Life cycle analysis
In order to implement the principle of sustainability and contribute to driving forward the energy transition, we not only pursue high quality standards for our products, but also pay attention to environmentally friendly production. As part of a life cycle analysis, we have determined which resources flow into the value creation process of our thin-film solar modules and in what quantities and proportions. These are, on the one hand, the energy required and, on the other, the raw materials needed in production.

An important result of the analysis was the realization that almost half of our emissions are attributable to energy consumption during the production of PV modules. The calculation was based on the assumption that the German electricity mix would be used in 2020, which led to the decision to switch our production completely to the use of green electricity.
This means that all modules produced will not only generate renewable electricity when they are later used, but that only renewable electricity sources will be used during their production. Our energy supplier SachsenEnergie AG supplies us with electrical energy that is generated entirely from hydropower.
